Ok bro, I have an idea worthy of Doom himself.............
I want to do a total overhaul of this site- reorganize the forums, rename the site to something Victor-worthy.........and I wanted your input on this since it's just you and me (and I also granted you MOD status as well)....... Once the overhaul is done, I'm going to send out a huge email to all the existing members as well as try and gather new ones. Give me some ideas............. -------------------- ![]() |

OK, I totally agree. This should be Doom central. If F4 fans want to hang out, cool - give them their space, but let's not tailor it to them. There's lots of places for comic book geeks to hang out and chat, this should be a place that offers something different. But let's not expect a huge devoted following overnight. Conquering the world takes time and planning.
hmmm ... I like the idea of having a forum devoted to ideas for conquering the world, just in case Doom himself stops by and thinks were slackers. But seriously - and take anything seriously that you want to -- I've hung out at other forums and bboards and this style seems to be the most user friendly, so we're starting out on a good platform. Ever since I started the Den Of Madness I've gotten e-mails from fans asking questions about Doom. There should be a forum for that - don't assume everyone who visits is fully versed on the Master. I should update the Den and place a link so I can stop getting those pesky emails. Also, there should be a general forum title, an anything goes forum. Not just F4 or Doom or even comic book chat, but just what's going on. Those kinds of forums, where everyone is drawn to it for the same reason and bond that way, but can chat like you would around a cup of coffee -- those forums seem to keep active even when there's nothing "new" to discuss. The general forum should be at the top of the page, perhaps just under introductions. I would keep as few as possible of separate forums ... at least to start. If there's an interest, then they can be expanded. A separate Gallery page would be nice for pictures, so that there's a place for them but people with slow bandwidth don't have to visit. That's the extent of my ideas for now ... I'll look over your forum titles again and see what should be kept what would be better off thrown out. thanks -- DS -------------------- "Pray, forgive my intrusion. I am ... DOOM!"

I don't know how you feel about it, but I dislike huge graphics in folks' signature line. I like the one you have (of course), but some of them are really annoying and take up a lot of space. That is, when reading a post, I have to scroll past this huge graphic to get to the next post, which is even more annoying when the first post reads:
"Dude" -- HUGE GRAPHIC -- and the second post reads: "Word" --- HUGE GRAPHIC -- and the third post reads: "What up homes?" -- HUGE GRAPHIC -- etc. You get my drift. Either limit the size of the graphics allowed or eliminate them all together. We've got enough individuality displayed in our avatars and sig lines. Oh, btw ... <--- that huge Reed head is freaking me out. His eyeballs are watching me. What does he want? Make him stop! I haven't done anything yet! Arrghhh! -------------------- "Pray, forgive my intrusion. I am ... DOOM!"

all very good points, DS. Let me ask you this: do you think we should totally start over from scratch? I've already secured a new forum here:
http://doomstadt.4.forumer.com We could certainly apply all your ideas to that forum or the existing one here. There is only one issue with the one here- I cannot change the url name. It will always be "F4FanBase" even though I renamed the site "Castle Doomstadt". At least with the new forum, the url and the name will be synonomous. Unfortunately, I can't change this url- price you pay for a free forum. My only issue is: if we go to the new one, everything here will be forgotten. We would have to build it from the ground up. What say you, brother? -------------------- ![]() |

Zeeks -
I'm torn ... I can see the advantages of staying here ... but then, if you (we) really want to start a Doom forum, to do it up right it ought to be a Doom related address. Doom will always be associated with the FF and to disillusion those folks would be shooting ourselves in the foot. BUT ... it's not like they wouldn't know what it's about either. The disadvantage is starting from scratch it's harder to attract people and make it worth their while to spend time on the boards. However, realistically, with this board having posts last visited in 2005, it's not like you're giving up a whole lot of activity. Start from scratch ... make a clean break and go for it, if it's not too much trouble. Better now than later. pesky urls ... it would make it so much easier just to be able to change it, wouldn't it? -------------------- "Pray, forgive my intrusion. I am ... DOOM!"

I'm not getting my verification email sent on the new site so I can't post anything new over there.
I sent someone over there who's been asking Doom questions now and again, hopefully he'll be our first convert. I don't travel comic boards much, but we need to get people over here, and that would be the best way to do it. People who frequent message boards already will most likely come, if they like the atmosphere they'll probably stay. Too bad we can't give away free samples of Latverian beer ... -------------------- "Pray, forgive my intrusion. I am ... DOOM!"

agreed. In regards to the verification email, make sure you check your spam box (if equipped). I used my verizon account for verification. It should also work with yahoo as well. Actually, I just ok'd your account and the one called Wormtail, so you guys should be all set. -------------------- ![]() |
